Human rights lawyer Haron Ndubi was arrested Sunday night.
According to Nairobi police boss Koome, Haron was driving while under the influence of alcohol hence leading to his arrest.
Police say Ndubi was arrested near Gate D of State House where his car was found stalled on Jakaya Kikwete Road. The car was reportedly on the middle of the road when police arrived there at about 9pm and after declining to use the alcoblow to check his alchohol levels, he was driven to kileleshwa police station where he was locked up.
Efforts to have him released on police bond failed after officers at the station said they were under instructions to lock him up.
In contrary, activists say he was drugged.
