President Uhuru Kenyatta and Melinda Gates have agreed to work together in order to strengthen the delivery of universal Health cover (UHC)
During their first meeting held at statehouse, Melinda Gates and President Uhuru Kenyatta spoke of a UHC plan with a focus on services that matter to women. Their discussion included the consideration of technical assistance to the Government of Kenya and agreement on identifying ways to support Kenya’s development agenda of a sustainable and inclusive universal healthcare system.
The deepened partnership between the government and the foundation will look on expanding the foundation’s existing support of Kenya health system, particularly on NHIF. Melinda applauded the inclusion of health as a focus in presidents Kenyatta’s ‘BIG FOUR’ agenda.
In addition to health, Mr. Kenyatta and Melinda also discussed agriculture and how it relates to the big four agenda that is by prioritizing food security and nutrition.
Melinda Gates was in Kenya to launch ‘Path ways for prosperity’: which is a new commission on technology and inclusive development and also she was on an official visit to partners in Kenya.
This is the second trip to Kenya in two years.
